Healthy Tailgating Options

Chips and SalsaIt won’t be long now before football fans around the country will be gathering in stadium parking lots to enjoy pre-game tailgating parties. While deep-fried chicken wings and sub sandwiches are on many menus, healthier options are available. You can still enjoy chicken wings, but instead of deep frying them, toss the wings in some hot sauce and bake them. For side dishes such as deviled eggs, cut the yolks in half and mix them with Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise. Salsas are also a good healthy option, whether they are the typical tomato salsas or a bean and corn mix. Blue corn chips or lentil chips are good options for dipping. If you want to top it off with dessert, you can find many recipes for sweets that use healthy ingredients such as applesauce, yogurt and even bananas; and if you are trying to avoid gluten, you can use almond flour instead of regular all-purpose flour.Tailgating is sometimes more enjoyable than the game itself, but we don’t have to stuff ourselves with unhealthy food options to have some fun!
