Kids and Back Pain

I’m often asked if I work on kids. The answer is yes, I work on kids as young as two weeks old and as old as 18 and everywhere in between. These days, kids have almost as much back pain as adults, and it’s no wonder. For school-aged kids, they have heavy backpacks that they often sling over one shoulder to look cool. Ideally they should use smaller backpacks or even roller bags. They should also put both straps on their back and certainly not carry more than their body weight in their bags.Last time I checked, school desks aren’t exactly ergonomically correct either. The chairs are hard and kids are expected to sit there most of the day. I’d squirm too if I had to sit in those chairs all day! And these days when kids are at home, many of them sit in front of the television or computer screen. One of the ways to keep your child from suffering back pain is to keep them active. By active I don’t mean playing the same sport year-round! I mean outside playing, exercising their growing bodies, riding bikes or playing kickball. But if your child is suffering with pain, don’t hesitate to make an appointment with us!
