Whiplash
We’ve all heard the word whiplash, but what is it exactly? When your neck is whipped back there is a sudden hyper-extension (neck going back) and then a sudden hyper-flexion (neck coming forward) and that causes whiplash.Whiplash can occur when the body suddenly pitches forward from a fall or from an accident when your car is rear-ended. The sudden movement can strain or tear muscles, ligaments and soft tissues of the neck, and pull your discs out of alignment. You might not feel immediate pain, sometimes it is days before you will start feeling pain. In addition to pain, you might feel stiffness in your neck, have headaches or feel aches in your shoulders or arms.If you are involved in an accident or experience a fall, it’s important to schedule an appointment with Homberg Chiropractic as soon as possible.
