Thanksgiving is a time for reflection. I’d like to start by thanking each and every one of you for trusting Homberg Chiropractic and Wellness with your healthcare needs! We are extremely grateful that you choose us to help keep you healthy. While Thanksgiving is a time for reflection, it is also a holiday that revolves around food. Well, let’s face it, Thanksgiving pretty much kicks off the overindulging season in America. If you fill up on turkey and dressing and then take to the couch for a post-meal nap, you might want to change that routine. Here are a few tips to help you with that.Don't Skip Meals to Save Room for Dinner: Breakfast is still the most important meal of the day. Even on Thanksgiving. It might seem silly to eat a large breakfast when you know you have a huge dinner ahead of you. But eating something hearty in the morning will help keep your portions smaller on your dinner plate.Don’t Head for the Couch: After lunch or dinner, whatever your family prefers, take a short walk. Don’t overdo it, you just ate! But a relaxing 10-minute walk will help to boost your energy after such a large meal.Substitute Healthy Alternatives: You don't have to change all your traditional dishes, but you can substitute a few and make your meal a little healthier. Try mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes. Or use fresh yams or fresh cranberries instead of using the canned variety. While I urge you to avoid sugar, a (one) small slice of pumpkin pie is a nice treat.
