Flu Shot or No Flu Shot?

FoodRecent headlines proclaimed that the flu shot was misjudged (yet again) and is not going to be effective for this particular mutation of the flu. The truth is, when researchers are developing the flu shot they have no idea what type of flu is going to spread throughout the country. It’s a shot in the dark. In addition to the shot often missing its mark, the ingredients of the shot are not what I want to put in my body. They include formaldehyde, mercury-based preservatives and other heavy metals such as aluminum. Would you rather put this in your system or big healthy doses of vegetables and fruits? The best flu prevention is a strong and healthy immune system, and that can be boosted with a healthy diet – a diet rich in lean protein, vegetables and fruit and low in carbohydrates and sugar. Keeping your gut healthy with a good probiotic, and upping the dosage of your daily vitamin D supplement can also help your immune system. In addition to a healthy diet and regular exercise, the health of your spine is very important for a strong immune system. Misalignments of the spine can put pressure on the nerves that exit at each level, and this causes stress and interference of the nervous system which is the key driver of the immune system. If your spine is out of alignment, there is a possibility that the nervous system it is not sending the right signals to your brain and therefore your immune system is not working at its highest efficiency.Instead of relying on a flu shot, which may or may not prevent you from getting the flu, take a few extra steps through diet, supplements and regular chiropractic adjustments to stay healthy this winter.
