Winter Weather
One of my favorite times of the year to hike is during the winter. The air may be cold (by Tennessee standards), but it makes for perfect hiking weather, and it’s good for you. Breathing in cool air can be good for our nasal passages. The cold weather outside usually means a very dry heat in every building we enter, and dry air can lead to constricted and swollen nasal passages. In addition to spending time outdoors, we can care for our sinuses in other ways:
- Stay hydrated. Drinking 64-plus ounces of water daily can keep our body, including our sinuses, hydrated.
- Use saline spray or a Neti-Pot. You can use either to moisten your sinuses or to irrigate your sinuses.
At Homberg Chiropractic, we also treat sinus issues with the cold laser, by triggering acupuncture points and with adjustments. If you are coming in for a regular adjustment, don’t hesitate to mention it if you are experiencing sinus issues.
