Before School Breakfasts

EggBack to school time also means adjusting the morning schedule to make sure your kids (and you) eat breakfast before they start their day. We’ve all heard it before – the word breakfast means to break the fast that you’ve been on while sleeping.Studies have shown that kids who eat a breakfast, preferably one with protein, stay both mentally and physically stronger throughout the day. They will be more alert, perform better in class and have more energy to last until lunch time and beyond.I know kids love their Captain Crunch or Pop-Tarts, but cereals and processed pastries are high in sugar and are likely to lead to a sugar crash later in the day. It could also lead to a burst of hyperactivity in kids. Healthy alternatives for breakfast include eggs, healthy oatmeal with some berries and nuts added, high protein nut butter on an apple or on a piece of gluten-free toast, or a protein-rich smoothie.
