Fitness Trackers Can Help Get You Moving

If you don’t have one, you probably know somebody who does or you’ve noticed the different-colored bands seemingly everybody is sporting on their wrists these days. These bands are fitness trackers. Will they make you healthier? Not necessarily, but they will help hold you accountable for moving. It seems every tech company makes a fitness tracker these days – Jawbone, Fitbit, Garmin, etc. These little devices can track your daily activity, your nightly sleep, and some can track your heart rate.As I said earlier, just wearing one won’t make you healthier, however if you wear it and pay attention to it, it’s going to get you moving. I know with many of them, you can set an idle alert. For example, you can set it to where if you are idle for an hour, it will buzz alerting you to the fact that you haven’t moved in an hour. If you want to be accountable, you will get up and move.A huge part of a healthy lifestyle that many people overlook is . . . sleep! These little devices will also track your sleep. You switch it to night mode once the lights go out and re-set it to day mode in the morning. When you check the app on your phone or the device website, it will show how long you slept, how long it took you to fall asleep, how much sound sleep or light sleep you had and how many times you woke up.I am not endorsing any one of these, they all have their pros and cons, but I think any of them can be a good motivator for people who are looking to move more. My advice to you is to do your research. Read about all of the fitness trackers on the market and select the one that you think will work best for you.
