One Positive Change a Day
Have you ever thought about the benefits you could receive if you made one small, positive change a day? A day? That is 365 small, positive changes in one year! Think of how that would affect your life for the better. Here are a few suggestions to get you started:
- Start parking further away from the door at work or at the grocery store. Getting more steps in is a great health benefit.
- Take the steps instead of the elevator. Note: If you haven’t exercised in a while, you might not want to take the steps if your office is on the 12th floor – at least not yet. Build your way up to it. Take the steps to the second floor and gradually increase.
- Try a new recipe – and not one out of a box. Use vegetables you’ve never eaten before.
- If you use creamer and sugar in your coffee, gradually add less each day; or switch from the high-sugar cream to something like half-and-half.
- If you stop at a popular coffee shop each day for your cup of joe, skip it and start bringing your coffee from home. Think of the money you will save!
- Instead of eating a bowl of cereal for breakfast, scramble an egg. Try adding vegetables to punch up the flavor.
- Have some quiet time each day. Whether you want to try meditation or simply find a quiet place and reflect on the day, quiet time can help remove the stress of everyday living.
- Take a shorter lunch break and go for a walk. You can start your lunch with a 30-minute walk and still have 30 minutes to eat your lunch.
- Forgo soft drinks! If you are a soft drink a day person, go one day without and you can gradually work up to several days without, and so on.
These are just a few ideas, but think about it – if you do just one of them – think about what a positive difference that could make in your life.
