A Knoxville Chiropractor Who Has Been The Patient

Dr. Craig Hennie has been serving the Knoxville Bearden community since 2002. His credentials are extensive, his training is broad, and his track record spans professional athletes, Olympic competitors, college players, post-accident patients, and everyday people who came in after trying everything else.

But what sets this practice apart starts before any of that. Dr. Hennie knows what it feels like to sit across from a specialist with a stack of imaging reports and still have no answers. He knows what it feels like to be told what is wrong and have nobody fix it. That experience is what built this clinic, and it is the reason every care plan here starts with a thorough look at what is actually happening, not just where it hurts.

Dr. Hennie’s Story In His Own Words

The story behind this practice is best told the way Dr. Hennie tells it himself.

“In 1994 I was involved in a fairly serious car accident. As time and treatment went by, I was unable to obtain relief from a constant, chronic headache. I had MRIs, CT scans, x-rays, EMGs and no one could pinpoint the cause. I had chiropractic care post-accident which was very beneficial, but did not resolve the headaches. I went to a few physical therapists with no improvement.

Around Christmas two and a half years later I ran into a family friend who was a semi-retired chiropractor. He saw the pain on my face and asked me what was wrong. I told him my story and he invited me into his office. I told him, ‘but I already tried Chiropractic.’ His response was, ‘You have tried one Chiropractor, how many MDs have you been too?’ So with some reluctance, I made an appointment.

I walked into his office with 3 inches of reports, x-rays and MRIs. He asked me if anyone had taken any x-rays while I was standing. The answer was no and he took some films.

He called me into his office and started explaining things to me, at which point I said, ‘can you fix this or not?’ I was tired of people’s opinions, etc., after all I had been told by every type of ‘ologist’ I could see what was wrong, but no one could fix me.

Dr. Hank Schiedt adjusted my neck and for 20 minutes I was headache free for the first time in 2.5 years. After a series of treatments, I was headache free. I was back!

His practice partner, Dr. Stancil, saw how intrigued I was with my care and began to not so subtly suggest I become a chiropractor. After much discussion I decided that helping people return to normal or as close to normal as we can get them is my life’s calling. I finished my prerequisites and entered Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Mo.

More than 20 years in private practice and I can still say my favorite part of each day is hearing people’s stories about their life and health returning to normal.”

How Dr. Hennie Thinks About Whole-Body Chiropractic Care

Every part of the body affects the rest of it. That is not a philosophy statement. It is the clinical framework behind every exam, every adjustment, and every care plan built at this practice.

We focus on functional restoration, which means less attention on how something feels in the moment and more on how the body actually works. Strength, balance, energy, mobility, and the ability to get back to the things that matter are the targets. Symptom management is a byproduct, not the goal.

Our approach centers on nerve flow in two directions: from the spine outward to the end organs, and from the end organs back through the system. We work to restore that communication while normalizing the structures involved as close to their natural state as possible. That is why we use standing X-rays, the Denneroll table, mirror-image exercises, Zone Technique, and a range of advanced therapies. Each one exists in the care plan because it serves the structural outcome, not because it is trending.

The mission is straightforward: help the community live life to the fullest while minimizing the need for drugs and surgery.

Experience Treating High-Performance Athletes

Performance demands precision. Athletes at the professional, college, and Olympic level cannot afford guesswork in their care, and the margin between functioning well and getting sidelined is narrow. Dr. Hennie has worked across all three levels, which means the diagnostic and treatment standards at this practice reflect the kind of thoroughness that high-performance athletes require.

That same standard applies to every patient. Whether you are a competitive athlete managing a recurring injury or someone who wants to move through daily life without pain, the approach does not change: assess the full picture, identify the structural cause, and build a plan that produces lasting functional results.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dr. Hennie And The Practice

How long has Dr. Hennie been in practice?

Dr. Hennie graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College in 2002 and has been in private practice for more than 20 years. He has been based in the Knoxville Bearden area since opening the clinic that same year.

What types of patients does Dr. Hennie treat?

Dr. Hennie sees a wide range of patients, from post-accident cases and chronic pain sufferers to professional and Olympic athletes, office workers, seniors, parents, and pediatric patients. If you have been told your problem is complicated or that nothing more can be done, that is exactly the kind of case this practice is built for.

Does Dr. Hennie use X-rays for every patient?

Not every patient requires X-rays, but when they are clinically indicated, we take standing films that show how the spine functions under load. That information is something most providers never collect, and it often reveals the structural cause that other imaging has missed.

What makes Dr. Hennie’s chiropractic approach different?

Dr. Hennie treats the body as a whole and focuses on functional restoration rather than symptom management. He looks at nerve flow in both directions, from the spine outward and from the end organ back, and uses a range of advanced tools, including Zone Technique, the Denneroll table, mirror-image exercises, RPW therapy, cold laser, and visceral manipulation, to restore structure as close to normal as possible. Every care plan is specific to the individual, not a template.

Is Homberg Chiropractic & Wellness accepting new patients?

Yes. We are accepting new patients and same-day appointments are often available. Call us or book online to get your first appointment scheduled.
