New Patient Center At Homberg Chiropractic & Wellness In Knoxville, TN
New to Homberg Chiropractic? Here Is Where to Begin.
Book an AppointmentIf you are looking for a chiropractor in the Knoxville area and are not sure what to expect, this page will walk you through everything. We serve patients from Bearden, West Knoxville, Sequoyah Hills, and the University of Tennessee corridor, and we see a wide range of people: office workers with chronic neck and back pain, post-accident patients who have not found answers elsewhere, athletes managing recurring injuries, parents bringing in their families, and patients who have simply tried other options without getting the results they were after.
Our process is more thorough than a standard chiropractic office, and that is by design. We do not do quick-pop adjustments and send patients on their way. Every care plan is built from a full structural assessment, exam findings, and, when clinically indicated, standing X-rays reviewed by a radiologist. The goal is a plan with a clear rationale, defined goals, and a timeline you can actually follow.
Same-day appointments are often available. If you have a question before booking, our team is easy to reach by phone. If you are ready to get started, you can book directly online.
What To Expect At Your First Appointment
Step 1: Complete your intake and health history
Before your appointment begins, you will complete a health history and intake form. One of our certified chiropractic therapy assistants will review your history with you in office and make sure Dr. Hennie has the full picture before the consultation begins. This is not a formality. The history is one of the most important parts of the assessment.
Step 2: Meet with Dr. Hennie for your consultation
Dr. Hennie sits down with every new patient before any exam or treatment. He takes the time to hear your full story, including what has been tried before, what has or has not worked, and what your goals are. Patients who have been managing a problem for years often tell us this is the first time a provider has actually listened through the whole picture. That conversation shapes everything that follows.
Step 3: Complete your structural exam
The exam at this practice is comprehensive. We conduct orthopedic, neurological, and postural assessments that give us a clinical picture of how your spine and supporting structures are actually functioning. When the exam findings indicate that standing X-rays would add important diagnostic information, we take them in-office. Standing films show how the spine behaves under load, which is something lying-down imaging does not capture.
Step 4: Review X-rays with radiology support when needed
When X-rays are taken, the films are sent to an independent radiologist for a full review before your second visit. That review is part of the standard process, not an add-on. We present findings with the radiologist’s report in hand, not from a quick in-office glance at the images.
Step 5: Review your report of findings
Your second visit is where the plan comes together. Dr. Hennie presents exactly what was found in the exam and imaging, explains what it means in plain language, and walks you through a care plan with specific goals and a timeline. You will understand what we are treating, why we are treating it, and what the expected course of care looks like before any treatment begins.
Step 6: Review your treatment plan and goals
Care at this practice is not open-ended. Every patient receives a structured treatment plan with defined goals, progress milestones, and a clear picture of what success looks like. Beyond active treatment, we support patients with personalized rehabilitation and exercise plans, wellness and maintenance planning, and educational resources that help you understand and manage your health between visits. Progress is tracked and goals are updated as care moves forward.
How To Prepare For Your First Visit
A small amount of preparation makes the first visit run smoothly and helps us get the most out of your time with Dr. Hennie.
What to Bring
- A valid photo ID
- Your insurance card (we accept BCBS, UHC, Aetna, Medicare, and accident medpay)
- Any prior imaging you have, including X-rays, MRIs, or CT scans, even if they are older
- A list of any current medications or supplements
- Any relevant medical records, specialist reports, or previous treatment notes if available
- Your completed intake form if sent in advance, or plan to arrive a few minutes early to complete it in office
Helpful Preparation Tips
- Wear or bring comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the spine, hips, and lower extremities
- Write down your main symptoms and any questions you want to ask before the visit, your history matters and we want to hear all of it
- If your condition was caused by a car accident, note the date, any insurance claim or case number, and the treating providers you have seen since
- If you have seen other chiropractors or physical therapists previously, a brief summary of what was done and how it went helps us build on or differentiate from that care
- Expect the first visit to take longer than a standard chiropractic appointment. This is by design, and the time is used for the consultation and exam that everything else is built on
What Our Patients Are Saying
Insurance, Payment, And Coverage Questions
Is Homberg Chiropractic & Wellness The Right Fit For You?
Chiropractic care at Homberg Chiropractic focuses on the structural and neurological function of the spine and musculoskeletal system. Our approach is built around functional restoration: improving how the body moves, loads, and communicates neurologically, not just reducing pain in the short term. We use standing X-rays, Zone Technique, advanced soft tissue therapies, and personalized rehabilitation to address the structural cause of a problem rather than managing its symptoms.
The most common reasons patients come to this practice include back pain, sciatica, neck pain, headaches with a cervical component, shoulder and extremity dysfunction, post-accident recovery, chronic injuries that have not responded to previous treatment, and patients seeking a more thorough and structured approach than they have found elsewhere. We also see pediatric patients, athletes at all levels, and patients managing arthritis or long-term degenerative conditions.
This practice is a good fit for patients who want a clear diagnosis, a structured care plan, and a provider who will explain the rationale behind every recommendation. It is not a walk-in adjustment model. If your goal is a fast, low-commitment visit, that is not what this clinic offers. If your goal is to understand what is actually wrong and build a plan to address it properly, this is the right place to start.
Some patients who come in for an initial consultation may need imaging we do not provide, specialist co-management, or a different level of care than chiropractic can offer. When that is the case, we say so directly and provide referrals where appropriate. Transparency about scope is part of how we build trust with patients and how we protect the integrity of the care we do provide.
